Primal Energy was added to the album after the band discovered a few demos that had not been developed into songs. Lyrics were going to be added to the song but were dropped after it was felt it would detract from the raw nature of the track.

This is the longest cut on Blackened Sea running over five minutes long. The first part of the song is played before Brigade during live performances. It is also the only song that has not been played in its entirety during any live show. It is the band's second instrumental song and was going to be one of two instrumentals to appear on the album. This idea was scrapped as the song ended up being the longest track.
